Simpson Education Support Center is a two-story, 25,000 SF facility designed so that all Texas City ISD administrators could be centrally located under one roof. It replaced the district’s aging administration offices and is located directly across the street from the district’s new high school, also designed by IBI Group. Constructed along the city’s primary business thoroughfare, this multi-purpose office space continues to strengthen community connections. The overall exterior references the unique character and scale of the community’s Spanish Revival architecture, respecting the adjacent community’s long-range plan for architectural consistency.
The completed new Support Center includes a superintendent and boardroom suite, a curriculum suite for assistant superintendent offices, a business suite, commons area, and an ancillary support group suite. It also includes offices for facilities planning staff, financial services, grant-writing, communications, and human resources. Each of these spaces was designed to accommodate new or expanded departments to occupy the building, as well as future technology expansion.
The plan allows a central reception area and one-way in/one way out circulation. These features, along with the building systems designed with security in mind, resulting in a building which is safe for employees and visitors. The overall design features sustainable principles including the use of energy efficient mechanical systems and generous daylighting throughout.
