North Shore Senior High School is a new school built to house 11th and 12th grades. It is located on a 79-acre tract with all new sports fields for practice and competition.
As built, the 350,000 square foot facility accommodates 1,700 students with core facilities for 2,400. This plan allows for future expansion of the academic area. The plan is centered around a rotunda-like commons area with two major axes bisecting the space. The east-west axis starts at the main entrance. It serves the major public spaces such as the main office, library, auditorium, gymnasiums, and cafeteria and ends at the bus loading area. The north-south axis starts at the main student entrance and leads to all academic, fine arts, and vocational areas. Secondary corridors feed off this axis and serve the individual rooms.
