Betty Cody Rennell Elementary School

Betty Cody Rennell Elementary School is designed based on a small learning community model as the District prototype with five (5) student communities of approximately 200 students for each community with centralized science and multi-purpose facilities for the student communities to share. Each community of classrooms shares a common community room and teacher work area. The building is also designed with specific daylighting strategies in mind where 95% of all classrooms have windows for natural light and views. Highlights of the facility include cool roofing, solar teaching PV array, small learning community design, science areas with touch screen learning kiosks tied to building systems usage data, truth walls, viewports to mechanical and electrical and data rooms for instructional use “building as a teacher” and science teaching gardens.
